Lior Meshullam
Editor of The Burrow. Cat traveler since 2017. Writes the city guides, runs the verification calls, and decides what makes the list.
Background
I work in product. Day-job: Head of Product at Moonshot Marketing, where I've led product groups since late 2024. Before that, ten years across consumer travel, recruiting, and marketing-tech products. Bilingual English / Hebrew, based in Israel.
The Burrow is a side project but not a casual one. It's the site I wished existed every time I tried to take a cat on a trip and ended up calling the front desk myself because the "pet-friendly" listing was wrong. The research process behind every page is the same one I would have done anyway. Publishing it just means the next traveler doesn't have to redo it.
How I work
For every city, I survey the full universe of pet-accepting hotels (typically 14-18 candidates), read each one's published pet policy, and rule out the dogs-only majority. Then I call the front desk on the survivors and ask the four questions that the website never answers: do you accept cats specifically, what's the fee, can a cat be left alone in the room, and what's the most cats you've had in a single room recently.
Three properties make the city page. Honorable mentions and ruled-outs are listed with reasons. The verbatim phone-call answers go into a verification log that's public on each pick card.
Where the site says "web-verified," that means I've read the policies but haven't completed the phone pass yet. Each web-verified page has a phone re-verification scheduled within 90 days.
